How Weight Loss Hypnosis ACTUALLY Works... and How it can Change Your Life Forever

AUGUST 30, 2020

This post will change your life.

I can all but guarantee it.

I’m so glad that you’ve finally found this, because it’s time you learn the truth about hypnosis.

Hypnosis is one of the greatest secrets that the most powerful people in our lives have been using for decades.

Some famous examples:

Winston Churchill used hypnosis to manage stress.

Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison both used hypnosis to increase their creativity.

Mozart used hypnosis to create music.

Henry Ford used hypnosis for personal development.

Barack Obama used hypnosis to stop smoking.

James Earl Jones and Bruce Willis both used hypnosis to overcome stuttering.

(In fact, lots of celebrities have used hypnosis for all kinds of reasons)

Kate Middleton used hypnosis to help with giving birth to her children.

Presidents, congressmen, prime ministers and more are using hypnosis to help them achieve their goals – not so much by hypnotizing other people, but by using self-hypnosis to improve their confidence and increase their motivation.

Famous athletes – Wayne Gretzky, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan, and nearly every Olympic athlete in the last seven decades – use hypnosis for performance.

It’s a little known secret, but nearly every NFL team in America has a professional hypnotist to help their athletes succeed.

And in this post, the secret is going to be yours. I’m so glad to be able to share this with you.

All these people used hypnosis to achieve their dreams, and you can do the same.

But before we get into that…

Who am I, and what do I know all this?

My name is Doug Sands, and I’m the consulting hypnotist who runs Anywhere Hypnosis. I help clients all over the world make radical changes in their lives through online hypnosis. I’m also the host of the Making Meaning podcast, where I blend lessons I’ve learned from hypnosis, psychology, meditation and more into helping people build meaning and fulfillment into their lives.

When I take on a new hypnosis client, the first thing I do is dispel the myths and misconceptions they brought with them about hypnosis. Then, I help them understand just what hypnosis is, and how it can be harnessed to bring about their goals.

Here are the most common myths I run into:

1. Hypnosis is sleep.

When researchers studied hypnosis with EEG machines, they realized the brain wave patterns of hypnosis clients didn’t match the patterns of those who were asleep. Hypnosis brain waves hovered just above the sleeping state.

To give you a brief run-down of these patterns, know that scientists classify five core frequencies when discussing brain waves.

Our brain waves during everyday waking consciousness are called Beta waves.

Above Beta, we have Gamma, which people typically experience during meditation or during times of heightened perception.

Just below Beta, we have Alpha. This is your light daydream state, when your mind drifts off from the events at hand.

Below Alpha is Theta, and below Theta is Delta. Delta waves are the frequency we experience when we’re deep in sleep.

What hypnotists focus on are Theta waves, that near-sleep frequency. This is where the results happen. In this state, people can access deep resources, but they’re still awake and alert enough to make changes to those resources.

2. A Hypnotist Can Make Me Do Things I Don’t Want to Do.

Contrary to popular lore, hypnosis isn’t mind control. That’s because your brain is always on the lookout to keep you safe.

Hypnosis works with something we call the Unconscious Mind. Simply put, this is everything your mind does that you’re not consciously thinking about: storing memories, creating enzymes, pumping blood, gathering oxygen, and more.

The one driving motivation of the unconscious mind is to keep you safe. Makes sense, right? If you get injured and die, your unconscious mind has nowhere to live. It has a vested interest in your well-being.

The key here is that the unconscious is always listening, ready to act for you if there’s danger. Ever jerk your hand back from a hot pan… before you consciously realized it was hot? That’s the unconscious mind at work.

New hypnosis clients sometimes wonder if they were in hypnosis, because they heard everything the hypnotist said. Since hypnosis is simply a state of heightened focus, they HAVE to be able to hear everything – otherwise they’d have nothing to focus on.

The unconscious listens to every suggestion a hypnotist gives, and it ultimately decides whether it wants to accept that suggestion or not. If a hypnotist gives a suggestion the unconscious disagrees with, the unconscious mind will jar the client out of trance.

There is no way a hypnotist can make anyone do something in hypnosis that they wouldn’t do outside of hypnosis.

You may ask, “What about stage shows, where people bark like dogs or dance like rockstars?”

Remember, every person on that stage volunteered to be there. They knew they might do ridiculous things, and they accepted that.

When a client comes in expecting to lose weight, or control anxiety, or build confidence, that’s what happens. They don’t expect to do ridiculous things, and so they don’t.

3. Hypnosis is dangerous.

Is watching TV dangerous? What about reading a book?

Both of these are examples of naturally occurring trance states (i.e. Hypnosis).

We’ve already established hypnosis can’t make you do anything you wouldn’t otherwise do.

Hypnosis, like its cousin meditation, is actually incredibly healthy for our minds. Each time a person enters a hypnotic trance, it gives the brain room to heal and recover.

Most hypnotic trances are deeply peaceful. They give us emotional space to breathe, to work through any difficult emotions we may be facing in life.

4. What if I get stuck in hypnosis?

Since hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of focus, and since our unconscious minds are always protecting us, there is no way to get stuck in hypnosis.

Eventually, your mind will wake you up, simply because it has things it needs to do: eat, sleep, use the bathroom. If a hypnotist simply stops talking, the client will naturally drift back to conscious awareness, usually within a couple minutes.

5. What if hypnosis doesn’t work on me?

When people ask me this, I explain to them that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. It’s a state we put ourselves in. You’re already doing it, every time you drive, or get in an elevator, or simply zone out for a minute or two.

A hypnotist is simply someone who offers language patterns to help deepen that natural state. And since we’re all already doing hypnosis on ourselves, we all have that ability to experience hypnosis.

The one thing you really need to make hypnosis effective is the desire to let it work. When you want it to happen, it will happen. Every time.

6. Hypnosis can instantly fix my problems.

To this, I say… Yes, and No.

Let’s use an example to explain: if you’re coming for weight loss, hypnosis will not instantly drop 50 pounds from your body. It won’t give you your perfect body without you making any changes in your life.

What hypnosis WILL do is rapidly change the beliefs and motivations that underpin your current habits. It helps people feel motivated to exercise and eat right. It helps change their beliefs about weight loss and how they can achieve a healthy life. It helps resolve issues that may be holding them back from making incredible changes in their life.

Hypnosis is not a magic wand that solves problems. But it IS a magic wand that can immediately change beliefs, habits, and motivations. Changing these fundamental things can have massive results as they impact the rest of our lives.

Now, let’s look at what hypnosis really is, and how it can help you.

 1. Hypnosis gives you control over things you thought were beyond you.

Hypnosis can help you change your beliefs. Ask yourself this: What’s the one belief that’s holding me back from what I really want? Maybe part of you believes you don’t have what it takes to achieve your goal. Maybe part of you doesn’t think you deserve to achieve it.

Hypnosis can help change that.

Hypnosis can change beliefs in as little as one session. People have been using hypnosis to build self-confident beliefs for decades.

Hypnosis can also help you change habits, and one easy way to do this is to switch the bad habit with a better one. Maybe you bite your nails every time you get stressed, and instead, you’d like to take some calming breaths to fight stress.

Hypnosis can take that stimuli (getting stressed) and attach it to a new habit (deep breathing).

Hypnosis can help motivate you to make positive changes in your life. If you want to work out more often, or you need motivation to start your own business, or you simply want help waking up on time, hypnosis can get you there.

2. Hypnosis changes the physical structure of the brain.

Don’t be alarmed here – your brain is restructuring itself all the time. It stores long-term memories with a protein called Kinase C. Every time you access that memory, your brain literally changes the shape of that protein structure.

Hypnosis is incredibly powerful. With it, we can literally change the protein structures that make us who we are.

Sound overwhelming? Don’t worry – your unconscious will always keep you safe. Instead, let this inspire you. It’s incredibly empowering to know that we have more control over our minds and our lives than we ever thought possible.

3. Hypnosis can resolve trauma.

That is, hypnosis can help you heal when you’re ready for it. If you come in simply wanting to stop biting your nails, we don’t have to dive deep into your past to do it. Something as simple as that can be resolved in a single session.

Modern hypnosis came of age during the years following both world wars, helping people resolve deep and painful traumas. After WWI, the world saw the largest number of traumatized people it has ever faced. They had PTSD, or shell shock, as they called it back then.

Talk therapy was becoming popular around that time, but there was no way you could run hundreds of thousands of former soldiers through a therapist’s office. There simply weren’t enough therapists.

So people used hypnosis. It helped these soldiers resolve the trauma they’d experienced, to go back to living their normal lives. And when that was finished, people put hypnosis on the shelf and forgot about it.

That is, until WWII happened. After the war, the world had the same problem, only on an even bigger scale. Trauma wasn’t just confined to soldiers. Civilians had lost their homes, their loved ones, their entire way of life.

So we took hypnosis down off the shelf, and we resolved the traumas. Since then, hypnosis has been studied heavily by science, and it has grown in popularity. Currently, hypnosis is an everyday part of life in Europe and other parts of the world.

Hypnosis is one of the most powerful ways to make changes in your life, and I believe everyone should have a chance to experience it. That’s why I’ve got something that I want to give you.
